- Hiraku Nagasawa
-
Originally from Yamagata prefecture in Japan, Hiraku got his first taste of synthesizer based music in 1979 listening to a record that contained tracks created using a Roland Jupiter 4. From that moment onward he became fascinated with the genre, which served to propel his early years exploration into learning to create music via electronic devices. In 1991 he attended his first dance music event at a night club in Sendai city, and discovered the synergy between synthesizer based music, and the pulse of the dance floor. This sealed his decision to move to Tokyo in 1992 to explore the club music scene that was developing rapidly there. While in Tokyo he was exposed to many international and domestic DJ's and acts, an experience that prompted him to re-energise his efforts to create music, and he subsequently opened a modest studio in his apartment, naming it ODORI STUDIO. In 1997 his debut single MATRIX TRACK was released on vinyl, created using a Roland synthesizer, an E-Mu sampler, and an AKAI sampler. During this period Hiraku also gained further studio experience assisting domestic and international artists with their productions, and occasionally performed live sets at Tokyo clubs. Currently Hiraku is modifying his ODORI STUDIO with an eye to bring back the old ways of working, by moving away from computer based audio production, and in it's place adding in analogue equipment, such as mixers, and outboard effects.
